Detail in Interior Design

I studied Interior Design as well, therefore I love the detail in absolutely everything. This particular post has a lot of my practical assignments & yes I did use detail. I also named my favourite pieces.  Who says you have to have two able hands to be able to create art?

Symmetry : made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis; showing symmetry.

I got the inspiration to create this pattern made of pins from The 'Proportions of Man' is a famous work of art by
Leonardo da Vinci

that shows symmetry in the human form.  Although my pattern is not completely symmetrical, it was a good first try.

Front view of pins
Pins from the left angle

Hierarchy: a system that places authority where needed
I got my inspiration to create this from Hierarchy and management: golden egg at the top, using pins i managed to create two points of hierarchy. The yellow spot & the circular space.

Zoomed out picture of hierarchy project
Close up of my hierarchy project

Rhythma strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound.

I got my inspiration from the movement of this painting by Patrick Raymond - The Rhythm Series - Art for Professionals. I emulated the powerful sound(colours) & movement.

In this picture notice the repetition of sound
Notice the wave like rhythm, how flat it becomes then it grows

Structure: the arrangement of and relations between the parts or elements of something complex.

My inspiration to create a structure came from this piece originally, it is called the Cantilever House<< Anderson Anderson Architecture. Mine is not as complex and diverse as this. It's the simpler version..lol. Containing three spaces.
My structure, zoomed out, frontal view.
Side view of structure, materials used are balsa wood& copydex glue

Structure ||
Improvement of structure, in other words, Final Structure.
Images on the left hand side are cleaner & appealing.
Images on the right are the detailing I used, notice how it looks like the balsa wood is hovering of the pin.

Worthy (name of the piece)

Material Board:  the matter from which a thing is or can be made out of.

Materials that were meant to be used but were not because the texture was too complex.

This certain assignment was to show hierarchy, symmetry, & rhythm using lines and dots

Hierarchy

I used my paper guillotine to cut lines
of yellow paper .
Then, glued them beside each other,
subsequently I hole punched the yellow
paper. & stuck it down, next to the strips.
This creates, again, two points of hierarchy.
I used my paper guillotine to cut out lines.
The highest point is the pink line.

Simplicity (Name of the piece)
 I Hole punched yellow paper,
& stuck it against a white background.
I  hole punched a lot of green paper & one pink paper

Symmetry

I folded an A4 paper, in the middle,
then stuck two
green dots on each side.
Again, I folded A4 paper, in the middle,
then i placed a box in the centre.
After that I stuck two green dots where
the sides of the box were
.

Rhythm

I simply hole punched green & blue
paper. Subsequently, I created a
repetition & movement of rhythm.
I cut out blue & green lines. After that,
I created a vertical & horizontal
movement of rhythm.

I placed dots of blue & one of green.
The green signifies the start of the
rhythm. ( it is a lot like the dots in
symmetry yet so different)
I put lines in a horizontal order, at
different paces. The green line, however,
comes first.

Blue dot of rhythm on the yellow dotted
side,  & it repeats itself on the blue dotted
side but with yellow dot.
Blue dots of rhythm, ( was actually
listening to classical music and
emulated the rhythm..lol)

Green zig zag line. Creative reproduction
of a blood pressure machine.
Stomp! ( Name of the piece)
Green line laying at an angle on A4
paper.

So I was given a project to create a model of my universities
reception room......boy was that though!! These are a few pictures
of what I did with the space.

Idea for a Reception Room

That is the receptionists chair, & desk.
The cut out Simi - cylindric form above
is meant to be the storage
space, & the t.v that extends out.
The guest area

Envision a door in the centre
The guest area is going to have a structure
on each side, portraying the students work.

24th Surprise Birthday Party

Arranged an exquisite 24th birthday party! I arranged for a cozy sized marquee, complete with indoor heaters, decorated with themed helium balloons (with the birthday girls favourite quotes and phrases). Catering included glow in the dark champagne (luminous Dom Perignon), canapes that ranged from spring rolls, mini burgers, chicken wings, to cupcakes (all catered by me). Birthday cake was personalised to suit the birthday girl's taste, both creatively and in terms of flavours. Music was inspired by the birthday girls personality and lifestyle. As it was a surprise, I conferred with close friends and family of the birthday girl to make sure everyone who could add to the special night was invited!
